Ergobaby Omni Baby Carriers - Ergobaby Omni Breeze and Ergobaby Omni Dream

The Ergobaby Omni is the baby carrier that does it all!

As Ergobaby put it, the best baby carrier should give you everything you and your baby need – safety, comfort, closeness and freedom, combined with the option of the front carry position.

It offers every position you need as your baby grows – from newborn to toddler (3.2 – 20 kg). Like all Ergobaby carriers in the range, it is easy to put on and take off, fits almost all body shapes and can be used by both parents. The carrier itself grows with your baby and can be adapted to the developmental stages and needs of your growing child as well as to your needs as busy and active parents.

You don't need an infant insert or anything else when babywearing with a newborn. Plus, there is a great range of designs to choose from - the standard cotton version, the cool air mesh version, the Breeze and the Dream designs. So you can be sure you'll be able to find a design that's right for you.

Is the Ergobaby Omni Worth It?

Yes! Here are the 3 main reasons why this carrier is so great:

  1. A Variety of Carrying Positions
  2. With these four possible ergonomic wearing positions, you can enjoy being close to your baby, lay the foundation for a healthy and secure bond in these important early developmental phases, and still have your hands free:

    • Front – facing parent
    • Front – facing out (from approx. 5 months)
    • Hip (from approx. 6 months)
    • Back (from approx. 6 months)

  3. Ergonomic Comfort
  4. The crossable shoulder straps and the wide, padded lumbar support ensure a perfect fit and protect your shoulders and back. Your baby's ergonomic M-position is naturally maintained and ensures healthy development of their hips.

  5. Well Thought-Out Features
  6. The Omni baby carrier has a foldable padded headrest and a stowable hood so the sun and wind won't disturb or wake your sleeping baby, and it is a great privacy screen when breastfeeding in the carrier. A detachable pocket for dummy, keys, telephone and other small items is also included in this comfort baby carrier, which is great if you're out and about with the family or taking your baby to nursery.

What Is The Ergobaby Omni Breeze?

The Breeze brings breathability to the next level. The Omni Breeze uses SoftFlex Mesh fabric to maximise airflow, keeping you and your baby comfortable and dry all day. It offers amazing air circulation and therefore pleasant cooling for baby and your on hot days or when you are particularly active.

What Is The Ergobaby Omni Dream?

The Ergobaby Dream is made from ultra-soft touch cotton - it's the softest cotton carrier from Ergobaby that does it all. Made from a brushed cotton fabric to keep you and your baby super-cozy. The upgraded, premium features provide ultimate comfort & convenience on adventures big and small, whether you're hanging out at home or on family days out.

Can the Ergobaby Omni Be Used With Newborns?

Yes, this carrier can be used with your newborn in the front position facing you, just so long as they meet the minimum weight and height requirements - your newborn baby must weigh 7 lbs (3.2 kg) minimum and be at least 20 inches (50.8 cm) tall.

What's the Maximum Weight of Baby That Can Be Carried?

You can use the Ergobaby Omni baby carrier until your baby weighs 45 lbs / 20 kg. We generally recommend carrying babies over 2 years old on your back, as this is much more comfortable than having a baby of this age on your front, especially for longer durations. We recommend that you carry your baby high enough on your back so they have a view of the world over your shoulder. This also allows them to have their arms out if they wish, which some babies find more comfortable.

Do You Need an Infant Insert for Newborns?

No, you don't need an infant insert for newborns. The seat of the carrier gradually adjusts to your growing baby right from newborn all the way to toddler (7-45 lbs / 3.2-20 kg), and ensuring that your baby is supported in an ergonomic M-shape position at all ages.

How Easy Is It To Adjust This Baby Carrier For My Baby?

It's actually really easy to adjust the width of the seat, and there are colour coded guides on the carrier itself to show you where to put the tabs. Plus, the tabs are attached with velcro, so they're really quick and easy to adjust. You adjust the seat based on your baby's height: use the red lines for a baby between 20-24 inches / 50.8-61 cm (~0-3 months), use the yellow lines for a baby between 24-28 inches / 61-71 cm (~3-9 months), and the blue lines for a baby over 28 inches / 71 cm (~9 months +).

What's the Difference Between This Carrier and Other Ergobaby Carriers?

The principal difference is that the Omni is newborn ready and can be used with a newborn starting at 7 lbs, whereas the standard 360 baby carrier requires the use of an infant insert if you want to use it with a baby under 12 lbs. The Omni also has the strap buckles in the front, making it possible to wear it with crossable shoulder straps and is easy to put on and take off. In addition, it comes with a removable accessory pouch pocket which can be worn in various positions on the carrier.

What's the Difference Between These Carriers and The Adapt?

The main difference is that whilst the Omni allows for a forward facing position, the Adapt carrier does not. It also comes with a removable pouch for you to carry your essentials while on the go.
