A Wonderful Week Of Meh Dais

Beth at Love To Be Natural     POSTED BY BETH   |   10.06.17

The Didymos Didytai

This week it’s all about meh dai / mei tai style carriers - padded shoulder, wrap-strap shoulder, combo-style, oh and half buckles too.

I’m not going to bore you with exact dimensions of straps and padding.  What I am going to do is show you the dimensions - this is much more meaningful in terms of use.

I’m going to use a slightly tall and solidly built 3 year old as the ‘baby’ in the carrier.  Why?  Well, it’s relatively easy to imagine a newborn or smaller baby in a mei tai, right?!  What’s not so so easy, is to imagine a big weighty toddler in them.

Sure, you don’t have to keep using your mei tai until your baby is a child, but what these photos will show you is what’s possible with each style, so that if you WANT to continue, or want the option of continuing, then you’re better prepared for what isn’t, or more importantly, is, achievable.

Let’s start with the very first mei tai we stocked - The Didy Meh Dai:

 Made from organic cotton.

 Cinches at the seat.

 Has wrap-strap style shoulder straps.

Available in oodles of different weaves & colours.

The Didymos Didytai Cleo

So here is Didy Meh Dai Cleo being used to carry a big boy of 3 years & 5 months. Here’s what’s important:

You can see that there’s lots of the carrier left wrapped around the wearers waist (see the curved fabric under baby’s bottom).

As we’ve spread the shoulder passes over the bottom and underneath each leg, his ‘seat’ reaches from knee to knee.

The carrier stretches all the way up his back, right to the top - and we haven’t even used the hood to extend the height - you can see the hood has been rolled away at the top!

Are you considering a mei tai as your carrying option?  If you are, then yay!  Do you have any questions?  Ask us!  No-one knows our carriers better than we do!

Have you already purchased a mei tai, and have a question about using it, or caring for it?  If you do, just ask!  It doesn’t matter if you purchased it from us or not, we love to help :-)

Happy baby carrying!
