Improving Accessibility With New Babywearing Icons

Hi everyone! I’m going to change hats to talk to you for a moment *removes Consultants hat and puts web designer hat on*.

Websites always need updating. Not exciting or earth-shattering news. But our website isn’t just a website; it’s how we connect with families all over the world. It’s how we help and inform families about carrying, slings and everything in between. In the Boutique and at Slingmeet, we can connect and help in person, but the website has to convert that sort of connection electronically. That’s difficult.

And we know that most of the families we connect with have young children, babies, or are expecting a first child. So the information on our website needs to be clear and easily accessible - we get this - being a parent isn’t easy! Short on sleep, always busy, a million things to do and no time to do it. So to try to connect through the internet, in the same way we do in person, is difficult. But we try very hard.

So we’ve been scratching our heads and thinking, coming up with better ways to bring the information to you quickly and concisely. We’ve done a few things:

We're adding Brand Stories - we think long and hard before bringing any brand into the store, and a great many of our brands are family-run, just like us. So we thought it would be a good idea to introduce the brands to you, to let you know more about them.

Icons - this was a tough one, but we’ve done it. We’re introducing icons on all the pages. Different icons for different styles of sling, washing instructions, age-range, fibre - all this information is now being brought to you in easy-to-see, easy-to-digest icons.

We’ve added videos, more info and photos to the website.

We’re regularly updating our blog with reviews and carrying information.

If there's anything else you'd like to see on the website that would make things easier or clearer please do let us know!

Much love and happy carrying!
