The natural oiled range from Grimm's is particularly delightful. As the wood isn't colour-washed or painted, the natural properties of the wood really shine through - the grain, colour, lustre, texture, and macro-structure, which all make each piece really unique and beautiful.
As a toy, it's wonderful to play with on its own for stacking and counting, and for making wonderfully unique sculptures. It's also a great loose-piece resource for your child to use in imaginary worlds and scenes as fences, houses, shelters - whatever your child decides in any given moment in time, - and for combining with other pieces in the Grimm's (and other wooden toy) ranges.
It also makes a striking decorative piece for when it's not being played with.
